When baling in automatic setting (where the net is fed into the baler automatically when the bale is fully formed), be sure you know if there is a delay set into the baler for the net application to start.  Some balers have a setting that can allow a variation in time up to 5 seconds before the net begins to feed.  This ‘delay’ allows you to stop the baler in time, so stopping crop being picked up.  If not, and you are not on the brakes quick enough, the net is feeding in whilst crop is still being picked up, so the net gets embedded inside the bale – meaning wasted net and less net to hold the bale.
